Product Definition
DEGLAS® IMPACT acrylic sheets are multi-walled sheets extruded from impact modified
acrylic (polymethyl methacrylate, PMMA) polymer.
This warranty applies to DEGLAS IMPACT, 32 mm (1 ¼”), 16 mm (5/8”) and 8 mm (5/16”)
thick multi-walled acrylic sheet in clear 0119 NO DRIP®.
Warranty Statements
- DEGLAS IMPACT acrylic sheets retain their light transmission.
This means that the sheets are guaranteed to show the following light transmittance values*
(upon delivery / after 10 years):
Typical Values Guaranteed Values
On delivery After 10 years
The DEGLAS IMPACT sheet 8 mm & 16 mm
Clear 0119 NO DRIP 86% 83% ≥ 83% ≥ 79%
The DEGLAS IMPACT sheet 32 mm 32 mm
Clear 0119 NO DRIP 76% 72% ≥ 72% ≥68%
The transmittance is measured according to DIN 5063 on clean, polished specimens that
have been conditioned to the equilibrium state in the standard climate of 23°C (73°F) at
50% relative humidity.
- DEGLAS IMPACT acrylic sheets will not be broken by hail during the warranty period.
Breakage by hail within the meaning of this warranty is defined as at least 5 holes at
different points in the surfaces of the double-skinned sheets, produced by 10 shots
during the hail simulation test described below.
|
Hail simulation test:
Pellets of polyamide (PA 6.6) with a diameter of 20 mm (~ 0.8”) (weight approx. 4.5 g) are propelled against the weathered surface of the test specimen at a speed of 21 m/s (69 ft/s), corresponding to a kinetic energy of 1 joule, at room temperature.
Information:
According to an expert, a natural hailstone of 23 mm (~ 0.9”) in diameter has an average
impact velocity of 17 m/s (~ 56 ft/s), corresponding to a kinetic energy of 1 joule. Furthermore,
a hailstone study has established that the average frequency of hailstones of more than
10 mm in diameter is only 2.9%. Hailstones of a greater diameter are less frequent.
Conditions of Warranty
The sheets:
- must be stored, transported, fabricated and installed (or used) in a manner that suits the material;
- must not be thermoformed;
- must not be (adversely) affected by connecting, fastening and sealing elements;
- and must be protected against adverse chemical influences.
